How many times have we set a goal, only to fail miserably 2 weeks later. I have the ultimate life hack to successfully achieve your goals, every time! This is a two-step process which requires visualization, and execution. However, if you follow through, you will achieve your goals successfully.
Step #1: Shift your Mindset
There’s a plethora of information out there which explains the power of the mind. There are scientific studies that explain the systematic’s of why and how this works. I’m keeping this short, but if you are truly curious about the how’s and the why’s, google that later. Right now, you need to attach positive emotions with the tasks that you will need to do in order to reach your goals successfully. For example, if you want to lose weight and you need to get up early to do so but you are not a morning person, visualize yourself being excited to get up in the morning as soon as that alarm goes off. Create a mantra, “you are strong, you will lose weight, you will workout, you will not give up”, repeat this mantra to yourself multiple times per day.
Successfully achieving your goals requires you to revisit Step #1 constantly. If you can do this daily, great, do it. One way to help you do this, create a vision board. You can get as creative as you want, or you can write your mantra in your notes on your iPhone. Look at it everyday, go through the positive emotions. The goal is to shift your mindset, and in order to start that process, you need to trick your mind into believing you are already there. It’s like time traveling to the future you. The future you that is already the person you want to be.
This is the most important step in successfully reaching your goals. You have to set the stage. Attach positive feelings/emotions to the work that needs to get done.
Step #2: Set Time Blocks
Setting time blocks helps to plan effectively so that your goals are executed in a way that keeps you motivated. If you look at a 90 day plan, it’s going to make you feel like you will never get there. It’s too far away! Now, let’s take that same 90 day plan and turn it into weekly blocks, this is now a much shorter finish line. It’s a finish line that you will cross at the end of every week. Think about how good it feels to successfully accomplish what you set out to do! When you break your time into blocks, you get that feeling at every finish line which will keep you motivated to get to the end.
